Our Denver Acupuncture Services
Brittany Lark, acupuncturist at Aria Integrative Health, has been practicing since 2004. She owned a private practice in Michigan from 2005-2011 and worked closely with a number of doctors during that time. In 2006 she began co-managing patients with Dr. Gago, a reproductive endocrinologist in Brighton, MI. Together they assisted hundreds of couples through their fertility journey. Brittany also assisted on-site at the fertility clinic for pre/post embryo transfer treatments.
Brittany’s treatment style is gentle yet effective and she applies both Chinese herbs with acupuncture in her practice. She firmly believes in the integration of Eastern and Western medicine and emphasizes the importance of diet and lifestyle. She is a dedicated practitioner and focuses both in the treatment room and outside of the clinic in order to achieve the best results possible for each patient.
Brittany is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Colorado, and is board certified with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She treats a wide range of conditions, but specializes in women’s health, infertility and pediatrics. Brittany is a provider with Cigna.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been used for thousands of years to treat a wide range of conditions from pain to infertility.
Traditional Chinese Medical Theory
TCM is based on the theory of yin and yang, interdependent opposites where one cannot exist without the other. It is a constant battle to maintain homeostasis in the body when yin and yang are not balanced. Our goal is to assist in balancing the yin and yang, as well as, the organs in the body. Chinese Medical theory is complex and requires an in depth consultation in order to properly diagnose and treat each patient. We are all unique therefore every individual’s treatment plan will vary.
Common conditions treated with TCM include:
♦ Headaches: migraines, tension and cluster
♦ Pain: both acute and chronic
♦ Women’s health: menopause, PMS, irregular menses, morning sickness, infertility, recurrent miscarriage
♦ Pediatrics: colic, digestive and sleep disturbance, restlessness, hyperactivity
♦ Digestive disturbance
♦ Cold/flu: boost immunity
Acupuncture for Pregnancy
Acupuncture can safely support both mother and baby through the many stages of fetal development from conception through birth.
Pre-birth acupuncture can help relieve many pregnancy related conditions such as:
♦ Morning Sickness
♦ Back Pain & Pelvic Pain
♦ Leg Cramps
♦ Sleep Disturbance
♦ Pre-birth treatment to prepare for labor
♦ Acupressure for Pain Relief during Labor
♦ High Blood Pressure
♦ Gestational Diabetes
♦ Malposition of Fetus
♦ Postpartum Recovery and lactation support
Treating Children with Chinese Medicine
Your child’s health is the foundation of their future! Chinese medicine can assist in building their precious systems. When treating children under 7, a technique called Shonishin is typically used instead of needles. This non-needle technique allows the body to naturally heal itself, helping to build the immune system and treat conditions such as:
♦ Viral infections
♦ Colic & digestive disturbance
♦ Ear infections
♦ Enuresis (bed wetting)
♦ Hyperactivity/developmental disorders
♦ Insomnia & sleep disturbances
As a parent you want the best for your little one! Choose a natural solution to treat common childhood illnesses.
Research suggests that acupuncture can dramatically improve your chances of conception by increasing blood flow to the uterus and ovaries. Treatments also reduce stress and assist in regulating ovulation and menstrual cycles.
Chinese Medicine boosts fertility by:
♦ Naturally normalizing the endocrine systems and regulating ovulation
♦ Regulating the menstrual cycle
♦ Increasing blood flow to the uterus and improving the chances of implantation in the uterine wall
♦ Reducing anxiety and stress, which can significantly increase chances of conception
Common causes of infertility are:
♦ Male factor: low count, motility or morphology
♦ Diminished ovarian reserve
♦ Hormonal imbalance
♦ Ovulation disorders
♦ Thyroid disorders
In all cases the focus of your treatment is your whole being, and the root cause of your imbalance. As a result you will not only experience an improvement in your specific condition, but better overall health. Typically we recommend seeing you for a few cycles, ranging from 3-6 months. If you are undergoing an assisted reproductive therapy, such as IUI or IVF we can develop a specific treatment plan in order to increase the best results.
