Do I have to See A Chiropractor Forever?

One thing that I and every other chiropractor hear over and over is that once you go to a chiropractor, you have to go FOREVER. Those chiropractors force their patients to come in every month until they retire. So DO you have to go forever?

Well the answer is obviously NO. I’ve never told a patient they have to come forever. They can quit at anytime. As with everything in life, what you do is your decision. No one can force you to do anything.

But let’s ask some important questions. Why is it that the only profession/habit to do more than once is go to a chiropractor?

Does your dentist not tell you to come every 6 months or more until you die? Or do they tell you to only come back if your teeth hurt?
Does your M.D. want you to come in at least once a year, even if you are the healthiest person alive?
Does your personal trainer tell you once you lose weight you can stop working out? We all wish that was the case!
Does your mechanic tell you that you should only change your oil when it runs out? This would save you money in the short term.

I could go on and on, but you can see the pattern here. And yet no one questions any of these recommendations. However I think we can all agree that doing all of those things as often as recommended will bring you positive and long-term results.

Your health is a choice, and you’re the only person who can be responsible for having or not having it.

If you want to achieve a state of good health, does it make more sense to McDonalds burgers every day, or to eat real, non-processed food?

If you want to achieve a state of good health, does it make more sense to be lazy, or to get moving and exercise?

If you want to achieve a state of good health, does it make more sense to take drugs for sickness, or to get Chiropractic care?

So here is the simple truth: it is good to do good things regularly. Getting adjusted is healthy. It even makes healthy people healthier, it makes their bodies move better, function better, and feel better. Chiropractic is a healthy habit, and a healthy choice. Therefore you will be healthier when Chiropractic is a part of your lifestyle. It should be done regularly, along with eating healthy food and exercising (even after you’ve lost the weight).
